Maya Kroitoru

As Director of Institutional Giving, Maya Kroitoru builds partnerships with institutional donors to mobilize resources for AJWS’s human rights work across Africa, Asia, Latin America, and the Caribbean. A strategist, speaker, and former diplomat, she brings more than 15 years of experience in resource development, program design, and implementation in complex operating environments.

Before joining AJWS, Maya served as a Foreign Service Officer with the U.S. Agency for International Development (USAID), supporting its missions in Nigeria and Moldova. She has also held leadership roles at the American Jewish Joint Distribution Committee and the Jewish Federations of North America.

Maya lives in the Washington, D.C., metropolitan area. She holds a master’s degree in Middle Eastern studies from the Hebrew University of Jerusalem and a bachelor’s degree in international relations from the University of Colorado Boulder.
