Tanyanika Davis is AJWS’s Director for Media Relations and Thought Leadership. She previously served as Deputy Commissioner for Communications at the New York City Mayor’s Office for International Affairs and as Deputy Director for the Mayor’s Office of Speechwriting, both under the de Blasio administration. In her previous career as a journalist, Tanyanika covered education, criminal justice, the arts and human-interest features. She is an award-winning writer whose pieces have appeared in The Wall Street Journal, New York Daily News, The Philadelphia Inquirer, and The Kansas City Star. She is also a volunteer mentor with the Op Ed Project, which helps experts from underrepresented communities express their views through op-ed columns. Tanyanika holds a bachelor’s degree from Wellesley College and a master’s degree from the S.I. Newhouse School of Journalism.
