STATEMENT FROM AMERICAN JEWISH WORLD SERVICE (AJWS) ABOUT ANTI-SEMITIC SHOOTING IN JERSEY CITY, NJ

AJWS is steadfast in its fight against violence motivated by anti-Semitism, bigotry and racism.

Robert Bank, President and CEO of American Jewish World Service (AJWS), issued this statement:

“We are horrified and saddened by accounts of another attack on Jews in the United States—this time in a kosher market in Jersey City, NJ, as the evening shopping rush started. We are holding the Jersey City community in our hearts—especially the families of those who were brutally murdered.

“This tragedy comes after shootings in San Diego, Pittsburgh and other places in America where people gather to worship, to shop, and to enjoy their families.

“While we are heartbroken by this shooting, we are steadfast in our fight against violence motivated by anti-Semitism, racism and bigotry of all kinds—both here in the United States and around the world. We work every day to create a world in which people of all backgrounds can live with respect and dignity without the fear of hate or violence. We must all join together with people of every background to make our country and our world safe for all.”
