Jeremy Carl, who has publicly embraced antisemitic and racist views, has been nominated to be Assistant Secretary for International Organizations at the State Department. This office shapes U.S. policy at the United Nations and its agencies around the world, including on human rights.
Carl’s confirmation hearing just took place. Please speak out with us and help oppose his nomination. Carl’s disturbing bigotry includes his public embrace of antisemitic tropes that have been used to dehumanize Jews and justify violence for centuries. He also believes in the “Great Replacement” — a baseless claim that Jews and other so-called “elites” are plotting to replace white Americans with immigrants and non-white citizens and in the idea of a “cultural genocide,” happening against white people — both ideas with long ties to white supremacist movements.
Putting Carl, whose values are so hateful, in a position of power on the international stage would be a huge mistake.
Please call both your Senators RIGHT NOW and leave short messages urging them to oppose Jeremy Carl’s nomination. It takes just a minute, but it will make a huge difference.
Call the Congressional switchboard at (202) 224-3121 and ask to be transferred to your Senators’ offices.
Here is a suggestion for what to say:
Hi, my name is [your name], I’m a constituent from [your city/area] and a supporter of American Jewish World Service. I’m calling to urge the Senator to vote NO on the nomination of Jeremy Carl for Assistant Secretary of State for International Organizations. He has embraced antisemitic and white supremacist views. He should not be in any position of power directing U.S. foreign policy. Thank you for passing along the message.
Thank you for using your voice to protect human rights worldwide!
