This is a head-spinning moment.
We’re approaching Rosh Hashanah, the Jewish New Year — a time of renewal and rejuvenation meant to launch the High Holiday season filled with opportunities for reflection, growth, repentance and joy.
But at the same time, the world around us is in crisis. We’re watching horrific violence unfold live around the globe, while here at home our government demolishes human rights and freedoms with abandon. And our own Jewish community feels polarized like never before in my lifetime. As a Jewish leader, as a mother, and as an AJWS staff member, I wonder often about where we go from here.
So I wanted to speak to you, face to face (or as close as we can get via this website!), about how I’m navigating this time of year. I hope my words will resonate with you and help you find meaning and strength during this High Holidays season.
Your gift will be matched 2X this Rosh Hashanah — please make a gift today.
Shana tovah u’metukah. May we know peace in the year to come.
