Jeremy Simons

Jeremy Simons is a fifth year rabbinical student at Hebrew Union College-Jewish Institute of Religion in Los Angeles, California. He recently served as an AJWS Kol Tzedek Fellow and spoke on behalf of the organization in communities across the country. In 2011, Jeremy participated in AJWS’s Rabbinical Students’ Delegation to Senegal and has been active in AJWS ever since. Jeremy also recently served as the Rabbinic Intern at the Religious Action Center of Reform Judaism and volunteers as a trip leader with Birthright-Israel. Jeremy can be reached at jsimons@huc.edu.

Parashat Nitzavim continues Moses’s final address to the entire Israelite community in which he instructs the Israelites to adhere to the Torah and avoid worshipping idols. Toward the end of this parashah, Moses utters one of the most famous passages in Torah in which he stresses the accessibility of our sacred texts.
