AJWS Hires Laura Talmus, Experienced Development Professional And Advocate For Social Justice Issues, To Lead Western Region

New York, NY; July 21, 2009— AJWS is pleased to announce that Laura Talmus has joined its senior staff as the organization’s western regional executive director. In this role, Talmus will be responsible for overseeing all operations in the western United States, including increasing AJWS’s base of donors and grassroots activists.

Talmus comes to AJWS with vast experience in both the Jewish organizational and political realms. Most recently, she ran her own fundraising and marketing consultancy where she counseled groups that include Hillel at Stanford University and UAHC Camp Newman-Camp Swig as well as numerous synagogues, Jewish Community Centers and agencies. She has also worked with Breast Cancer Fund, Equal Rights Advocates and University of California SF Women’s Global Health Imperative.

In addition to running her own firm, Talmus has worked for New Israel Fund, where she served for 10 years as regional director for Northern California, and the National Partnership for Women & Families, where she also served as director of the Northern California region.
