AJWS Board of Trustees Elects 3 New Members

New York, NY; August 25, 2011—The Board of Trustees of American Jewish World Service (AJWS), an international development and human rights organization, has elected three new members: Monte Dube, Scott A. Edelman and Eileen Epstein.

“We are thrilled to welcome these talented professionals and committed philanthropists to our board,” said AJWS board chair Barbara Dobkin. “Their presence will add new energy and skills to AJWS’s leadership, helping us inspire and mobilize American Jews to end poverty and advance human rights in the developing world.”

“AJWS is grateful to Monte, Scott and Eileen for their pledged service and looks forward to working closely with them and the entire board on ensuring a bright future for the organization and the marginalized populations it seeks to empower,” said AJWS president Ruth Messinger.

Monte Dube is an attorney at Proskauer Rose LLP, where he heads their Chicago-based health care department and counsels non-profit and for-profit health care companies worldwide on business and regulatory issues. He serves as a board member for Aitz Hayim Center for Jewish Living and the Solomon Schechter Day Schools of Metropolitan Chicago.

Scott A. Edelman is Vice Chairman of Milbank, Tweed, Hadley & McCloy, where his practice focuses on corporate governance issues, civil litigation and white collar criminal matters. Prior to joining Milbank Tweed, Scott was an Assistant United States Attorney in the Southern District of New York.

Eileen Epstein splits her time between Chicago, where she serves as a trustee of the Jewish Women’s Foundation and Manhattan, where she volunteers in New York City schools’ literacy programs. She previously spent 25 years in professional development in education and the arts at the University of Chicago Laboratory Schools and at the Chicago Children’s Choir.
