Devastation in Indonesia

With no warning, a deadly tsunami struck Indonesian coastlines on December 22, 2018, the result of volcanic activity under the sea. The rising waters swept people away, crushed homes as it inundated coastal towns, leaving a path of destruction. More than 400 people are dead with many more injured and others still missing with some towns now unreachable.

Tragically, this is the second devastating tsunami to hit Indonesia this year, following one triggered by a 7.5 magnitude earthquake in late September. The death toll from these disasters is over 2,500 and climbing.

Right now, our community of Jewish global citizens is helping the people of Indonesia recover from these two tsunamis. We are providing local Indonesian organizations immediate humanitarian aid.

Your generous donation will enable these organizations to:

  • Distribute relief packages for mothers with young children and babies
  • Establish a community center and free kitchen run by local women
  • Empower youth and women’s groups to lead recovery efforts for the most vulnerable communities

The time to act is now. Your generosity will save lives.
