Activists Up Close: Meet Pisey, who’s Leading the Movement for Marriage Equality in Cambodia

Ly Pisey grew up in Phnom Penh, Cambodia, where LGBTQI+ people are alienated and pushed to the fringes of society. But Pisey — along with the activist organization she co-founded, Rainbow Community Kampuchea (RoCK) — is working to change what’s possible for her community nationwide.

Today, with cultural acceptance of LGBTQI+ on the rise, Pisey and her RoCK team are launching the “I Accept” campaign, a national drive to change the hearts and minds of Cambodians, with the goal of legalized, same-sex marriage. “I Accept” has the potential to bring Cambodia to the forefront of the global movement for marriage equality — and their momentum is inspiring!

Meet Pisey to see how she and RoCK are shaping lives and changing what’s possible for LGBTQI+ people in Cambodia.
