Samantha (Sam) Wolthuis serves as Director of Disaster Response & International Operations at American Jewish World Service (AJWS), the leading international Jewish development and human rights organization which supports more than 500 grantee organizations in 19 developing countries to advance the human rights of women and girls, LGBT people, indigenous communities, ethnic minorities and advocates for freedom and democracy.
Sam previously served as the Director of International Service at AJWS, overseeing volunteer programs which helped build the capacity of AJWS partners in Asia, Africa, and the Americas. Prior to AJWS, Sam worked with Princeton in Africa and Family & Children’s Services in Tulsa, Oklahoma. She has a master’s degree in international studies from Oklahoma State University and a bachelor of arts degree from Colby-Sawyer College. Sam also served in the Peace Corps in Uzbekistan. A native of Brussels, Belgium, Sam has resided in Saudi Arabia and Singapore. She speaks fluent French.
