Caroline Kouassiaman is a program officer managing the sexual health and rights portfolio in Africa. Prior to joining AJWS in 2014, Caroline was the program officer for Sub-Saharan Africa at the Global Fund for Women. She has more than 11 years of diverse experiences in the international and U.S. non-profit sectors, ranging from coordinating international development research in Ghana to working as an admission counselor to being a small business consultant. Caroline is a queer feminist of Ivorian and African-American heritage, has lived in five African countries and serves an advisor to the Queer African Youth Network. Caroline works for a world where girls, women and LGBTI people have the opportunity, autonomy and resources to live full, healthy and violence-free lives on their own terms. She holds a Master of Public Administration degree and a master’s in international relations from the Maxwell School of Syracuse University.
