Michael Hirschhorn is a non-profit strategy consultant with an extensive background in the fields of education, human rights and leadership development. Formerly, Michael was Executive Director of the International Human Rights Funders Group. He also previously served as Executive Director of the Coro New York Leadership Center and the Literacy Assistance Center in New York City, as well as Deputy Director of Educators for Social Responsibility Metro (now Morningside Center). Michael serves on the boards of several local and national nonprofits, including the Jacob and Hilda Blaustein Foundation (where he is chair), Witness, Breakthrough, Just Vision, Business and Human Rights Resource Centre, and EMPower/The Emerging Markets Fund. Michael joined the AJWS Board of Trustees in October 2007. He is a member of the Board’s executive, finance and administration, and governance committees. Michael received his B.A. from Yale University in 1981 and his M.B.A. and M.S.W. from Columbia University in 1989. He lives in Brooklyn with his wife, Jimena Martinez, and their middle-school-age twins.
