Urge Obama to End LGBT Discrimination in Foreign Assistance Programs
Following the historic appointment of the United States’ first Special Envoy for the Rights of LGBT Persons, we now have an opportunity to do much more to protect the rights and dignity of LGBT people worldwide. We must ensure that LGBT people, so often the target of discrimination and stigma that deny them health services, jobs, protection from violence and other critical support, do not fall through the cracks in our foreign aid programs.
Tell Obama to make sure that our foreign aid dollars serve everyone. The U.S. government should enact policies that ensure our aid dollars are spent without discrimination, so that those most vulnerable are not cut out of accessing the help they need the most. It’s time to end discrimination against LGBT people in foreign assistance programs, once and for all.
