Tell Secretary Kerry to Demand Justice for Berta Cáceres
We are calling on Secretary of State John Kerry to demand justice for Berta Cáceres, a globally recognized champion of environmental and human rights and former AJWS grantee, who was brutally murdered in her home in Honduras on March 3, 2016. Cáceres fought bravely for the land and water rights of indigenous communities in Honduras, making her a target for private companies and Honduran state security forces. Despite multiple threats to her life and her family’s lives, she decried the injustice and corruption in her country. Her work will be kept alive by the Council of Indigenous Peoples of Honduras (COPINH), which she co-founded, and by those continuing to fight for the human rights of others in the face of threats.
Join us and tell Secretary Kerry to demand justice for Berta, the people of Honduras, and human rights activists around the world.
