AJWS President Ruth W. Messinger discusses AJWS's strategy in Haiti, from the immediate emergency relief to long-term reconstruction for a sustainable future.

Ann Njogu, the executive director of Centre for Rights Education and Awareness (CREAW)—an AJWS grantee—has been instrumental in building CREAW as an organizational leader in eradicating sexual and gender-based violence to help Kenya become a country that actualizes womens rights, increases womens access to legal education and trauma counseling, and sustains a national peace-building process.

Following the earthquake in Haiti, AJWS grantees mobilized caravans to bring aid from the Dominican Republic to Haiti. They were among the first responders bringing aid across the border into Port-au-Prince and neighboring affected areas.
