COMARU promotes and protects the collective rights of indigenous peoples of the Urubamba River in the Peruvian Amazon, where the proliferation of oil drilling and hydroelectric projects is threatening the health and livelihoods of indigenous people.

Political Participation of Indigenous Women Leaders

To increase political participation of indigenous women in decision making around land management and to implement a new law requiring indigenous people's consent for development projects by social organizing, workshops and forums, and campaigning domestically and internationally.
