COAL is a human rights news source founded by young Peruvian journalists and activists in 1970. COAL produces independent and reliable news and analysis about Latin America and the Caribbean with an emphasis on the problems and situations that affect the human rights of vulnerable and marginalized sectors of the population. COAL distributes the news among individuals, groups and forums whose work has the power to contribute to the construction of more inclusive and just societies.

Strengthening Social Leaders' Capacity for the Promotion of Human Rights
To support the production and distribution of news and analysis on human rights violations, natural resources rights and gender-based violence, and to support capacity building for indigenous women leaders and advocacy campaigns based on the political agenda of local social movements.
