Centro para los Derechos de la Mujer, Naaxwiin, began as the women’s rights and health team within AJWS grantee UCIZONI, and was founded in 2000 to promote the rights and integral health of rural, Indigenous women, children and youth in the Isthmus of Tehuantepec in Oaxaca. The organization provides counseling, psychosocial support and access to the justice system for victims of violence, and works to teach local authorities and institutions to effectively prevent and address violence against women.

To prevent violence against women in Oaxaca; to provide support services to rural indigenous women experiencing violence; and to advocate to the state for the recognition of women’s rights.
