Organización la Esperanza de las Mujeres Garífunas (OLAMUGAH)
OLAMUGAH, which works to empower women from Honduras’s Garifuna ethnic group, was founded in 2009 following an assembly of 200 Garífuna women from 37 communities conducted with the support of OFRANEH, an AJWS grantee. Assembly participants founded OLAMUGAH to reduce discrimination based on gender and address violations of Garifuna women's land rights.
Project
Defending Garifuna Women's Rights
To reduce discrimination based on gender and address violations of women's land rights by strengthening women-led community groups, conducting a diagnostic study of Garífuna women's priorities, and strengthening the organization's administrative and operational capacities.
