Comité de Emergencia Garifuna de Honduras (CEGAH)
CEGAH was formed in 1998 directly after Hurricane Mitch battered the north coast of Honduras where the Garifuna communities were virtually ignored by government relief efforts due to a history of discrimination. Comité has since broadened its mission and currently works in a variety of areas, including promoting programs for women, advancing sustainable economic growth and preserving the unique Garífuna culture.
