Unidad de Defensores y Defensoras de Derechos Humanos de Guatemala (UDEFEGUA)

UDEFEGUA was established in 2004 to further the work and security of human rights defenders in Guatemala and Central America. The program helps at-risk human rights defenders and their organizations prevent and respond to security threats through education, monitoring and mental health support, and advocates for protection by government institutions and the international community.

Protection of Human Rights Defenders at Risk

Purpose: To support human rights defenders in Central America by improving institutional measures for protection and security; supporting legal cases; and holding governments and state institutions accountable for responding to violence against human rights defenders.
