ARECRUZ’s mission is to implement Irrigation Law 2878, providing sustainable water in quantity and quality for everyone. It is the Santa Cruz affiliate of the National Association of Irrigators, a group of 50 peasant associations that was created in 2000 after the Bolivian people successfully overturned a government-sponsored water privatization contract that had converted water into commodity.
