NAPE, founded in 1997, is a national environmental organization that advocates for the sustainable management of natural resources for the benefit of all Ugandans. In addition to its efforts at the national level, NAPE works with local communities to protect and advance their natural resource rights. The organization addresses issues such as climate change, extractive industries, infrastructure development, forestry, wetlands management and human rights and democracy.
Project
Amplifying the Voices of Rural Women in the Oil Debates
To enhance the participation of women in decision-making about oil extraction in the Albertine region by documenting the voices of women speaking out about the impact of oil on their livelihoods, training community groups on oil advocacy and gender equality, facilitating dialogues between women and local leaders; and investing in community education and capacity building in order to build a strong natural resource rights movement in the country.
