Projects in Somalia

AJWS began a series of post-tsunami relief and recovery activities in Somalia, Somaliland and Puntland in 2005. Our partners distribute food and non-food items to disaster-affected communities while facilitating education programs for young women and orphans. Some projects focus on income-generating activities that are designed to stimulate recovery among the region's most vulnerable groups. Other projects strengthen the capacity of women's groups to lobby and advocate for peace. To ensure the safety and wellbeing of our community-based partners who might otherwise be at risk, AJWS does not list our Somalia grantees on our website.
