Construire la Paix par le Développement Economique et Social (COPI)
COPI is a network of 14 villages associations working together to bring about peace in the rural district of Sindian, an area hard hit by the protracted conflict in southern Senegal. COPI was founded in 2005 by a group of young villagers and today it works to ensure the security of the area by rebuilding trust and strengthening the social fabric that was weakened by years of conflict and suspicion in the population. In addition to its peacemaking work, COPI helps young people access opportunities to gain education and build skills, with the goal of preventing them from joining the rebel movement in southern Senegal.
