KSHP began as an informal village self-help program in 1984. The organization combats poverty and food insecurity by empowering HIV/AIDS affected communities in western Kenya to adopt low-cost food production methods that are environmentally sound.

Women-Led Biointensive Farming and Institutional Strengthening
To promote food security by training women farmer groups in biointensive sustainable agriculture, marketing, entrepreneurship, HIV/AIDS and home-based care.
