What to expect upon return

The fellowship is not an isolated experience. After returning from India, fellows attend a retreat in the U.S. that includes discussions about how the experience fits into the context of AJWS's vision of social change, guidance on how to integrate the lessons of the experience into life at home and skills-training for engaging and teaching others.

After their volunteer experience, fellows are expected to:

  • Write an article connecting their personal experiences volunteering to at least one global justice issue
  • Participate in a "popular education" action such as public speaking about their experience, organizing an educational exhibit or hosting an event about global justice
  • Contact their fundraising contacts, thanking them for their support and sharing parts of the experience with them
