Summer 2012: Summer 2012 Application
Application Deadline: The deadline for Volunteer Corps Summer 2012 applications is February 17, 2012.
For placements in East Africa: Orientation will take place from July 1 to July 5. Placements will begin on July 10 and last until at least September 28.

Please have the following information ready when you begin the application:
- Your passport number and expiration date
- The names and email addresses of two references
- The names, phone numbers and email addresses of two emergency contacts
- Your essays prepared in Microsoft Word or PDF format. Please answer the following questions in two pages or fewer.
- What is your approach to working in social justice and/or international development?
- How does this approach connect to your desire to serve in AJWS Volunteer Corps?
- How do your Jewish identity and/or your ethical intuition and values motivate you to pursue this experience?
- Participants in AJWS Volunteer Corps are expected to share the impact of their experiences when they return. This requirement can be completed by public speaking engagements, article writing, recruitment for AJWS programs, fundraising for AJWS or other community outreach or public education activities. How do you envision fulfilling this component of the program?
- Your short answer questions prepared in Microsoft Word or PDF format. Please answer the following on the following in no more than four sentences each.
- Please explain your "hard" professional skills (i.e. curriculum development, donor research, business planning). Please refer to the professional background and skills section of the application, and note that skills other than those you use in your current position may be relevant.
- Answer the following only if you have volunteered with AJWS Volunteer Corps previously: In addition to its volunteer programs overseas, AJWS works to promote global citizenship within the larger American Jewish community. For that reason, we require volunteers to share the impact of their experiences when they return. In 100 words or fewer, please describe how you completed your "upon return" obligation after your previous assignment. You may refer back to the Action Tracker you received from your Program Officer.
- Your résumé or CV in Microsoft Word or PDF format.
Application Materials
AJWS assesses each candidate's compatibility with our program through a written application, references and interview. In order for your application to be considered, AJWS must receive all application materials by the deadline.
