The following is a preliminary list of events, workshops, dates and fellowship commitments:

Orientation Programming:

Educational groundwork, logistical preparation and group building

  • Welcome and Introductory Webinar
  • Week of March 10, 2014
  • Three Preparatory Webinar Information Sessions
  • Mid-May, 2014
  • Mid-June, 2014
  • Mid-July, 2014
  • Educational Preparation (including short readings, video clips, and brief text studies done as individuals, in partner study, and/or web-based discussion)
  • Periodically, March to August
  • In-Person Orientation
  • Sunday, August 10, 2014 in NYC

8-10 Day Experience in the Developing World

  • Travel to Kenya
  • August 11 — 19, 2014, leaving from NYC

Post-Trip Engagement Commitments:

Put your citizen power to work with AJWS in your community, on the Hill and more!

  • Two Days of Training and Lobbying in Washington, D.C. to build on your skills as activists
  • Spring 2015
  • Two Post-Travel Workshops
  • Participate in two webinars, tentatively scheduled:
    • Week of November 1, 2014
    • Week of January 12, 2015
  • Take Action with AJWS
  • Speak and/or write about your experience and AJWS’s campaign work
  • Generate local press
  • Participate in local meeting with elected officials
  • Empower lay-leaders to organize an event to build AJWS’s base in your community
  • Organize local clergy to mobilize support for AJWS’s advocacy campaign
  • Fundraise for AJWS
  • Share action alerts with social action committee, clergy association
