The following is a preliminary list of events, workshops, dates and fellowship commitments:

Orientation Programming

  • Welcome and Introductory Webinar
  • Week of October 20, 2014, TBD
  • Three Preparatory Webinar Information Sessions
  • Week of November 3, 2014, TBD
  • Week of December 1, 2014, TBD
  • December 22, 2014, TBD
  • Educational Preparation (including short readings, video clips, and brief text studies done as individuals, in partner study, and/or web-based discussion)
  • Periodically, October through January
  • Participation in monthly Action Teams* meetings (either in person or virtually)
  • In-Person Orientation

8-10 Day Experience in the Developing World

  • Travel to Nicaragua
  • January 5–13, 2015 leaving from NYC

Post-Trip Engagement Activities

  • Take Action with AJWS: Two Days of Training and Lobbying in Washington, D.C. to build on current activism skills

  • Take Action with AJWS
  • Speak and/or write about the travel experience and AJWS’s campaign work
  • Generate local press
  • Attend local monthly Action Team meetings, take on leadership roles and plan campaign events
  • Participate in local meetings with elected officials
  • Organize local community to mobilize support for AJWS’s advocacy campaign
  • Fundraise for AJWS
